2011 updates...and some Garlands [Feb. 15th, 2011|12:47 pm]
"The Enchanted Masquerade"
Life has gotten a bit crazy and taken ALOT of unexpected turns for me this past year...few of them good, unfortunately. I've moved again...to the other end of the coutry, from NY to WY. Like I said, CRAZY!!

Haven't really gotten back into the swing of my mask-making, though I do have the materials out to get to work on another Goblin mask...I started him some years ago and he had shattered on the floor. Well, now I'll be using non-drying plasticine clay for my positive mold.
I'm also going to start up some more of my bird masks again soon. I still have plans for more Faery masks, too.
Here's a link to the Goblin I'm referring to: http://emasqueradegallery.deviantart.com/gallery/?catpath=scraps&offset=24#/dpol1c

In the meantime, I've found myself toying around with garlands. I've made two floral garlands recently and have designs in mind for a few more, but I don't see myself wearing all of them, unfortunately. So, instead I'm attempting to sell them. If these sell then I'll whip up more from the designs I've come up with. If not...well, maybe one day I'll have the $$ to just make them for the hell of it.:D

As I have posted in the past, I do have an art-blog Here: http://theenchantedmasquerade.blogspot.com/ -which has ALOT more pics. of both these garlands plus myself modeling them.

"Autumn Renaissance Garland" $115.00

-What do you think?

Mask Maker MIA....BACK!!! [Sep. 16th, 2010|08:31 pm]
"The Enchanted Masquerade"
[Tags|]

Hello everyone! Sorry I've been MIA for so long...my mask-making has, unfortunately, taken a back-seat to Life for a little while now. I've since moved from Ma. to NY. and my last mask was another peacock commission back last year for Halloween.
I've had a lot of ideas ruminating and percolating 'round in my noggin' for a while...I've been really wanting to get my butt in gear and make the Autumn Fairy mask I've had in my head for a couple of years now...so I'm going to be starting on that soon.

I just started a new job this week where I'm working 8a to 1pm 5 days a week. Not the greatest paycheck, but I'm looking at this as an opportunity to really get myself back into my mask making.
I figure that with my being home well before 5, I should still have enough energy in me to tackle my art.
I've also got a craftroom in 'serious' disarray that I'll 'hopefully' be fixing up this winter. I have all sorts of plans for it...involving painting, installing some track lighting, etc.

Now....I have created a Blogger mask-making Blog where I will be posting the majority of my mask and art endeavors. I will also come back here from time to time and update with Work-In-Progress posts and links back to my Blog for those who are new to my masks.
So, if you are interested in my mask making, seeing the finished photos, watching WIP, or just reading my random ramblings about art supplies, ideas, themes, etc. Or seeing what artwork I enjoy and that inspires me, check out my new blog: http://theenchantedmasquerade.blogspot.com/
-Please feel free to Subscribe to my blog and COmment, Comment, Comment!!!

If you are wanting to ask me a question or want to buy a mask, then please contact me here: EnchantedMasquerade@gmail.com
-I'm not currently accepting many, if any, commissions. I'm going to be working at my own pace and hopefully selling what comes of it.

And don't forget, I have an online gallery on DeviantArt.com here: http://EMasqueradeGallery.deviantart.com

I will be adding a permanent post to this journal for all the new people finding me through google or wherever with these links.

For those of you still interested in being added to a mailing list for updates on new masks and/or masks for sale, please e-mail me with your request, here: EnchantedMasquerade@gmail.com
-I'm still trying to figure out how gmail works, but I think I saw an option for mailing lists or something like that.

And something to whet your appetites....here's what I've got sitting out on my diningroom table as a daily reminder to get to work:

and here's a look at the last Peacock mask I made:

-More photos of this mask can be found here: http://theenchantedmasquerade.blogspot.com/2009/10/peacock-mask-commission-completed.html

And my last installment of the WIP pics.:

Thanks so much!!:)

Oh, and totally unrelated...but for those of you who enjoy cosmetics/body products/nail polish, etc. -beauty...I have a relatively active makeup community here: http://community.livejournal.com/makeupreviewed/
-Please feel free to not only JOIN,but to also comment and post!!:D

An opinion, please... [May. 11th, 2008|04:14 pm]

I'm considering starting up a mailing list for those interested in being updated when I've created, and finished, a new mask.

-Do you think this is a good idea or no? And if so, would you be interested in being put on that list?

Thanks!

Finished Commissioned Mermaid Mask [May. 11th, 2008|04:06 pm]
"The Enchanted Masquerade"
[Tags|]

I finished this mask some time ago but am, regretfully, only now getting around to updating my journal with the finished photos.

My customer really liked the mask and has commented that her twin sister may be interested in one like it for herself soon. So that's cool.:)

And here are the photos of the finished Mermaid mask:

Swim below for more...Collapse )

-The contrast may look a little off because I had to mess with the brightness in photoshop...the flash was a little too much on the fabric on the mask. But otherwise, all the colors are photographed correctly.

WOW...check out this artist!! [Apr. 5th, 2008|10:55 am]

[What I'm Feeling |ecstaticecstatic]

I just stumbled across this amazing sculpture artist here on LJ: creaturesfromel
and her amazing website: http://www.creaturesfromel.ca/
I don't feel that she's getting enough attention in her LJ and her work is INCREDIBLY deserving of it!! Please check her out!

I don't think I've seen work quite like hers or as detailed, either. She does amazing sculpts of dragons, winged felines, fantasy looking snakes and birds, Phoenixes, etc. Things from her imagination! My jaw dropped, literally!!!

Leave her comments, seriously!!!

Commissioned Blue Mermaid Mask [Mar. 31st, 2008|10:33 pm]
"The Enchanted Masquerade"
[Tags|]

I've recently taken on a commission from a co-worker of mine who collects masks and enjoys mermaid art. It's pretty much a re-make of an earlier mermaid mask which also a commission piece for a friend.

I've got some more work to do before it's finished, but not too much more.

Swim with me..Collapse )

"The Enchanted Masquerade"
[Tags|]

So it's taken me a while but I'm finally posting photos of the last Phoenix mask I recently made. I wasn't able to get very good photos of it before I mailed it off, unfortunately, as I was in a hurry and the lighting in-doors isn't great.

So here you go!
